Solo Rules — Designed by Will Rice
The Cards
Sweet Shop uses a standard 52-card deck. The four suits are:
♥Strawberry Hearts — power: Multipack
♦Fizzy Diamonds — power: Sugar Rush
♣ Sour Cherries — power: Pick n Mix
♠ Fruit Drops — power: Flavour Changer
Number cards (2–10) are worth 1 point each.
Bits n Pieces (Aces) — worth 1pt. Can be Eaten with any dice total. No suit power.
Chocolate Soldiers (Jacks) — worth 2pts. Hollow; keep their suit power when Eaten.
Chocolate Fairies (Queens) — worth 2pts. Hollow; keep their suit power when Eaten.
Chocolate Pirates (Kings) — worth 3pts. Solid chocolate; no suit power and cannot be Eaten with a normal dice roll — but worth the effort!
Set Up
Remove all Jacks, Queens and Kings and set aside. Shuffle the remaining 40 cards.
Deal the top 6 cards face up into a numbered row — this is the Shelf (positions 1–6).
Split the remaining 34 cards into four rough quarters. Shuffle one Jack into the 1st quarter, one Queen into the 2nd, one King into the 3rd. Reassemble (J-quarter on top, then Q, then K, then the 4th quarter).
Gameplay
Each turn has four steps:
1. Roll — Roll all 6 dice. The 2 red dice show which Shelf positions will be discarded at the end of your turn. Plan around them!
2. Your turn — Split your 4 white dice into 2 pairs. With each pair, either Grab a card from the Shelf or Eat a card from your Basket. The Shelf refills immediately each time you Grab a card.
3. Discard — Cards at the red dice positions are removed. Double = only 1 removed. Shelf refills once more.
Grabbing a Card
Use a pair of dice where at least one die matches the position of the card you want. Take it and add it to your Basket. The gap stays empty until the Shelf refills.
Example: Dice show 2 and 5. You can Grab the card in position 2 or position 5.
Eating a Card
Use a pair of dice where the sum matches the value of the card you want. Move it from your Basket to your Tummy — cards in your Tummy score points.
Bits n Pieces (Aces) can be Eaten with any dice total. Chocolate Pirates (Kings) cannot be Eaten with a normal roll.
Example: Dice show 3 and 6. You can Eat a 9 from your Basket.
Last Resort
Before using any dice pairs, you may instead take any one card from the Shelf as your only action. Your turn then skips to Refill and Discard as normal.
Suit Powers
Each suit's power triggers when a card of that suit is Eaten into your Tummy. Aces and Kings have no suit power. Powers can chain — e.g. Sugar Rush eating a Heart also triggers Multipack.
♥ Multipack (Strawberry Hearts)
Immediately Grab any one card from the Shelf into your Basket.
♦ Sugar Rush (Fizzy Diamonds)
Immediately Eat any one card from your Basket that is not a diamond numbered 2–Queen — including a King of Diamonds or Ace of Diamonds! ⚠ EXCEPTION: Sugar Rush cannot Eat a diamond numbered 2 to Queen.
♣ Pick n Mix (Sour Cherries)
This card's value becomes a permanent Grab wild. When a dice pair's sum equals any Sour Cherry in your Tummy, two things happen:
Wild Grab — Grab any card from the Shelf freely.
Discard Redirect — After grabbing, tap any Shelf card to choose which card gets discarded. The red dice become a double matching that position, so only one card is discarded (instead of two). Skip if you're happy with the existing discard.
Multiple Sour Cherries stack — each creates its own wild value.
♠ Flavour Changer (Fruit Drops)
This card's value becomes a permanent Eat wild. When a dice pair's sum equals any Fruit Drop in your Tummy, you may Eat any card from your Basket, including a King.
Multiple Fruit Drops stack.
Chocolate Pirates (Kings)
Grabbed normally. Can only be Eaten via:
Sugar Rush — Eating any diamond triggers Sugar Rush, letting you Eat any non-diamond from your Basket, including a Pirate.
Flavour Changer wild — If your dice sum matches a spade in your Tummy, you may Eat anything, including a Pirate.
Chocolate Figures Queue
When the Jack shuffled into the deck appears on the Shelf, the other 3 Jacks form a queue. From then on, there must always be one Soldier on the Shelf — if there isn't one when refilling, the next in queue takes the first empty slot.
The same applies when the Queen (Fairies) and King (Pirates) appear. Up to one of each type may be on the Shelf at once.
End of Game
The game ends once the standard Shelf/deck pile has been fully drawn through and a gap opens on the Shelf that can't be refilled from it. Any Jacks, Queens, or Kings still waiting in their queue at that point simply don't make it into that game.
Scoring
Chocolate Pirates (Kings): 3 points each
Chocolate Soldiers & Fairies (Jacks & Queens): 2 points each
All other cards: 1 point each
Cards remaining in your Basket at the end score nothing.
